everyone needs to know their rights regardless if they’re innocent or guilty. we may not live in a “free society” any longer but it can make a big difference in whether you end up in jail for a crime you didn’t commit or not!
Even if you are innocent, (maybe ESPECIALLY if you are innocent), you should not rely on someone who’s sole occupation is to develop a supportable arrest case history. He’s not there to sift through the “good guys” from the ‘bad guys’. His job is to bust as many as he can and let the system sort it out. Cops cannot waste time (except in Mayberry) being detective, prosecutor, lawyer or bailiff….He’s looking to bust you and get back on the street.nothing more.
Sure, if you want to get the book thrown at you. If you refuse consent to a search and they do it anyway, the evidence can be suppressed as it wasn’t lawfully obtained.
